Top Fashion Trends For Spring

Spring 2020 Trends
The amazing @bagsnob @littlefashionstylist @etro and @cristiandior all showing spring's amazing trends

Like everyone else, I spent the end of winter to spring break at a little resort I like to call “Chez Home & Spa.” Now, as we head into with longer, warmer brighter days. If we have not already, we will be traveling to exotic locations like restaurants, friends houses and even resorts. What are the current fashion trends for Spring and what should we be wearing? Here are our favorites and how to put them together.

Preppy Picks

Chufy and Chung in Dior blue button down

Many of us have that preppy blue button-down in our closet (for some of us it has been there since school -you know who you are).  This season, mix that preppy piece with something surprising.

My favorite preppy shirt look come from adding it over or under micro floral skirts and dresses. Or just add a black leather skirt to the button-down and roll up the sleeves. And, when there is a chill in the air, put the button-down over a fitted turtleneck or grey/black T-Shirt. Add a funky pair of wide-leg culottes or A-line skirt and chunky heeled shoes.

70’s Sensations

Narrow strapped handbags: Take last season’s cross-body bag and wear it on your shoulder.

High waisted pants and skirts: Waist-lines on pants, shorts and skirts are now medium to high. If you are worried a higher waist is not as flattering, try adding a sash/belt or turn up the pant leg. This will make your waist line look narrower and lengthen your leg.

Suiting

Longer jackets: Trade your boxy short blazer for a longer looser blazer. Pair with flared/wide pant leg. For a great street look, wear the blazer with a printed T.

Shorts: Suits with shorts are back. Not able to wear shorts to work, no worries. Wear them to brunch or to post work drinks.

Safari Silhouettes: Look for suits with safari silhouettes, including plenty of jacket pockets. Belt the waist, add a wider-leg pant and finish off with an unexpected shoe.

White Flowy Dresses

Bad-girl eyelet: Wear your long white/cream eyelet lace cotton dress with an edge. Add a pair of chunky-heeled boots and a trench coat.

Ready for brunch (city or beach): Wear a shin-length or longer crisp white cotton dress with wedge sandals and a soft side handbag.

Barbecue/Outdoor Eventt: Add a wide leather belt in chocolate, multiple thin multi-length gold necklaces and ankle or cowboy boots to your white cotton flowing dress.

Bottega’s unexpected shoe

There is a spring fashion trend out there for you that will make you feel engaged (with the world) and with-it again. You can get down with the 70’s (without the big scrunched hair), go for the feminine edgy look or wear glamorous suiting.

Avery Tip: If I had to pick two things for you to think about, it would be wider pant legs and an unexpected shoe. But, whatever you choose, wear what makes you feel great!!
