How do you spell luscious? My answer for a lazy summer day or just a day where I need to be transported someplace beautiful is to pick up a book written by one of the fashion greats that will fill my day with pleasure! Let me recommend a few recent delights.
Open “The Chiffon Trenches” by former Vogue editor and fashion icon Andre Leon Talley and be transported back in time to the inner circles of Paris fashion in the 70s and 80s. Andre makes it real and you are there!
Be inspired by Tonne Goodman who was discovered in Manhattan at the age of 15, started modeled and in due time found her true calling, creating some of the world’s most iconic fashion images. As impressive is her attitude for when life starts to get a little messy (from a model calling in sick for a shoot to her breast cancer diagnosis) is “This is happening for a reason.” She feels that another brighter path will eventually be revealed.
Her book “Point of View” will inspire you and remind you what American cool is all about. Along the way she chronicles some of the world’s greatest celebrities, photographers, models and designers, weaving together their talents to produce pure masterpieces.
And then if you’re inspired to get back in the glamor game (as soon as we can!) pick up Hollywood stylist Kate Young’s “Dressing for the Dark” and get going. She has styled “It girls” and superstars alike including: Dakota Johnson, Sienna Miller, Margot Robbie and Selena Gomez. While she wrote this book a while ago, her advice and tips will get us thinking about what glamour can do for our spirits both at home and when we can venture out and about!
