Beauty Wake-Up Call

My wake up call came when the LePrarie skin care specialist gave me a sample of a cream that temporarily tightens the skin on the neck. I thought, why would I need this? Answer:  she was too diplomatic to say I had the beginnings of “turkey neck”…UGH!!!Revive Neck Cream

This started my journey to figure out what I could do to improve my neck.  The beauty manager at Bergdorfs pointed out there are different products for different goals/ages. She reminded me that the neck was one of the three places that can really age a woman’s appearance.

What can we do about this?  Treat the neck as you would your face – Cleanse, Moisturize, and Exercise.

Cleanse & Moisturize The Neck

When you wash your face, include your neck (use a gentle cleanser).  After patting dry, use a neck cream.  Apply it with upward swipes of your hands.

Like other muscles in the body, the neck and face muscles need exercising.  You should exercise them once a day.  One exercise is done by sitting upright (in a chair or bed), tilting your face to the ceiling and saying the vowels several times in a row.  There are also yoga poises that have a similar effect and are often included in classes.

Special Cases Side Sleepers/Neck Disasters:

  • If you sleep on your side:  Side sleeping (which we all do sometimes), can lead to neck and eye wrinkles.  Unable to break this habit? Look to a skin rejuvenating pillowcase. My great grandmother slept on a satin pillow in the shape of a U.  She used it to protect her face, neck, and hair (she carried it everywhere she went).

  • If you have completely ignored your neck: It may be a bigger challenge to improve the appearance of your neck if you have totally ignored it.  In addition to cleansing, moisturizing, and exercising, you may want to add in a NuFACE Trinity and mini devices or something similar to help tighten and firm the neck.
